There was a distinctive difference of opinion between Republican and Democratic respondents in regards to the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline. Around 76 percent of the surveyed respondents who identified more as Republicans were in favor of this project, compared with only 17 percent of respondents with Democratic leanings.
The Keystone XL pipeline project would transport oil from Canada's oil sands region through the Midwest to refineries located in Texas via a more direct route than the already existing Keystone pipeline system.
