Steel industry in India
India has adequate domestic availability and accessibility of coal and iron ore, two most important raw materials for steel production. India is the second largest hard coal producing country, just after China, and has the fifth largest reserve of crude ore and iron content in the world. The public sector also plays an important role in the steel industry. Most companies within this sector market their steel through the Steel Authority of India.
