Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) is the process of capturing carbon dioxide (CO2) and storing it in a site, primarily an underground geological formation, where it will not be able to enter the atmosphere. Carbon capture technology is decades old, but because high costs the number of carbon capture and storage projects worldwide is relatively low.
