As as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, consumers in the United States shifted to ordering online for delivery or takeout from restaurants as many establishments were closed to the public. U.S. consumers showed a strong preference towards ordering online directly through restaurants vs. using third party delivery services. Between March and May 2020, over 60 percent of respondents stated that they ordered online directly from the restaurants website or app.
