To fight a new wave of coronavirus infections in early 2022, the government in Hong Kong announced the introduction of a new COVID-19 vaccine pass scheme applicable for crowded places such as shopping malls and supermarkets. Only vaccinated people were allowed to enter such premises starting from February 24, 2022. According to a survey conducted among Hong Kong residents shortly before the new regulation came into force, around 53 percent of respondents thought the measures were reasonable.
