Between January and April 2020, the residential sector in Brazil saw a recurring increase in natural gas consumption, when compared to the respective month of the previous year. In the latter month, consumption increased by 13.76 percent in comparison to April 2019. Meanwhile, consumption in the industrial and automotive sectors, which had already reported year-on-year declines in both January and February, saw the situation aggravated following the report of the first COVID-19 cases and deaths in Brazil, and the subsequent lockdown measures implemented in the country. In April 2020, consumption in these sectors decreased by 31.7 and 45.2 percent, respectively.
