Impact of COVID-19 on projected real GDP growth in Tunisia 2019-2022
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic impacted the Tunisian economy. In 2020, the country's real gross domestic product (GDP) declined significantly by 8.8 percent. Nevertheless, projections made in December 2020 showed that the country's economy would recover in 2021 and 2022, with a positive growth of the GDP.
Previous estimates conducted in June 2020 expected the Tunisian GDP to contract by four percent in 2020, contrary to the subsequent projections. Moreover, before the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the country's real GDP was supposed to grow by 2.1 percent in 2020 and 2.6 percent in 2021.
