Number of inbound tourists in Malta 2019-2021, by visit duration
Due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on travel and tourism, the number of international tourist arrivals in Malta was substantially lower in 2020 and 2021 over 2019. Overall, travelers who spent at least seven nights in the country accounted for the highest volume of inbound arrivals between 2019 and 2021. In the latter year, visitors staying in Malta for at least seven overnight stays reported nearly 536 thousand arrivals, denoting an increase over 2020 but remaining below pre-pandemic levels.
