According to a survey conducted in November 2019 about diversity in the workplace, a majority of approximately 77 percent of Japanese respondents stated that there was no support group for LGBT individuals and their allies existent in their company.
The acronym LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and has been used since the 1990s. It is an umbrella term for individuals identifying as non-heterosexual or non-cisgender, with the latter meaning that the individual's gender identity does not match their sex assigned at birth.
