According to a survey conducted in January 2020 in Japan, close to 61 percent of Japanese consumers ate chocolate because they liked the sweet treat. Around 17.4 percent consumed chocolate for health benefits related to the cocoa and polyphenol content, which is especially present in dark chocolate.
