As of December 2021, natural gas pipeline Nova Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) had the highest throughput among all Canadian pipelines, at some 816.8 million cubic meters per day. From these selected petroleum and natural gas pipelines, the first eight are used for natural gas transportation.
Pipeline transportation is used as a long-distance transportation method to move liquid or gas products from production or extraction sites to refineries and later to end consumers.
