The production of maize in Tanzania amounted to roughly 5.7 million metric tons in the season 2018/2019. There was a decrease of approximately 10 percent in comparison to the previous season, when 6.2 million metric tons were harvested. Maize is the main cereal crop produced in the country, mainly for national consumption but also as an export item.
