The number of enterprises in the mining of metal ores industry in the European Union saw no significant changes in 2018 in comparison to the previous year 2017 and remained at around 387 enterprises. Still, 2018 marked the second consecutive decline of the number of enterprises in this industry. In accordance with EU REGULATION (EC) No 250/2009 only companies are included here which were active during at least a part of the reference period. It also includes local units (branches) which do not constitute a separate legal entity and which are dependent on foreign enterprises.
