The Agriculture and Food Law, enacted in November 2018, centers around three objectives: to pay producers a fair price, so that they can earn a dignified living from their work, to strengthen the health, environmental and nutritional quality of products, and to promote healthy, safe and sustainable food for all.
For farmers, animal welfare is first a selling point. This is no surprise considering the 2015 consensus on farm animal protection, where 98 percent of the population stated it was an important cause to them.
