According to 2021 survey, around 56.7 percent of respondents from the Philippines were concerned that the threat of "decoupling" could divide Southeast Asia into exclusive trade blocs led by China and the U.S. In addition, nearly half of the respondents stated that the trade war was not good for the region because of lower trade volumes and lack of investor confidence.

Original survey question: "After more than a year of the US-China trade war, which
options below best reflect your sentiments? (check 2 responses)"
Among 1,032 respondents from all ten ASEAN member states participated in the 2021 survey, of which 6.5 percent of respondents were from the Philippines. The survey was conducted among respondents between the age of under 21 until above 60.
