In 2022, the French trade balance showed strong variations depending on the sector*. Indeed, while the energy sectors such as hydrocarbons and refined oil had a trade deficit of more than 17 billion euros, other sectors such as aeronautics recorded a profit of more than 19 billion euros.
The perfume and cosmetics sector in France was also largely profitable with a surplus of 13 billion euros that same year.
