According to a survey conducted in Japan in May 2020, over 97 percent of consumers were aware of the major e-commerce site Amazon. While Rakuten Ichiba led the list of online retailers emerging from domestic enterprises, other Japanese e-commerce providers fell far behind in prominence compared to the American competitors Amazon and Yahoo.
