Due to the coronavirus pandemic, most companies of the tourism and catering industry in Italy faced liquidity problems in 2020. A study published in August 2020 shows that 74 percent of Italian businesses in this industry claimed to experience liquidity issues because of the negative impact of the pandemic on tourism. Comparing data of tourism companies with national figures reveals how the coronavirus emergency significantly impacted this industry. Overall, roughly 58 percent of all companies in Italy declared to have liquidity problems in 2020.
