In the crop year 2018/2019, nearly 698 thousand hectares of cassava were harvested in Angola. The amount accounted for some 75 percent of the total harvested area of roots and tubers. Cassava is the main root crop cultivated in the country, and an important item in the Angolan diet. In 2018, roughly 8.7 million metric tons of cassava were produced in Angola.
