Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the number of overnight stays recorded by Italian outbound tourists decreased sharply in the fourth quarter of 2020 over the same period of the previous year. Between October and December 2019, Italian travelers visiting EU countries reported roughly 29 million overnight stays. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the number of overnight stays dropped to about 10 million.
