Portugal's international tourism experienced in 2022 an almost complete recovery from the COVID-19 impact as the number of international overnight visitors per month show. In August 2022 – the most touristic month for the European country –, accommodation establishments in Portugal welcomed 1.96 million foreign guests, which was almost the same amount recorded in August 2019. In August 2023, the number of foreign guests was the highest recorded during the considered period, with 2.16 million.
