According to a survey conducted in September 2020, about 82 percent of young people aged 17 to 19 years old in Japan turned to television as a source for information they thought of as necessary to their daily lives. Television was the only source mentioned by a majority of people. It was followed by social media and news websites. The same survey showed that most young people thought that information about the weather and disasters was necessary to them.
