Healthcare providers working in Belgium in 2020, by place of work and residence

In 2020, most Belgian healthcare providers worked and lived in the region of Flanders. To a lesser extent, 31 percent of physicians, nurses, and caregivers lived in Wallonia while 29 percent of healthcare providers worked in this region. During this year, less than seven percent of healthcare providers lived in the Brussels-Capital Region, whereas 12.34 percent of these professionals worked in the region. In other words, the number of health care providers working in Brussels-Capital Region was higher than the number of workers living in the region. Ultimately, over half of healthcare providers who worked in Brussels commuted mostly from Flanders, but also from Wallonia.
