In 2020, most physicians and caregivers in Belgium were aged between 25 and 34 years old, whereas most nurses were aged between 45 and 54 years old. Due to different lengths of training, health providers aged under 25 are mostly caregivers and rarely nurses or doctors. Over 13 percent of physicians were aged 65 years and older, whereas less than one percent of Belgian nurses and caregivers still practiced at this age. This difference could be partly explained by the job's requirement in terms of energy.
