Number of international tourists in Madeira 2016-2024

The number of international visitors in Madeira saw a significant recovery in 2021, reaching 600 thousand after the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 caused it to fall to a quarter of its 2019 value. Despite this, however, the pre-pandemic figures are still double those of 2021. These values were reached in 2022 and 2023, as 1.3 million international tourists visited this region.
