Tourism expenditure in Japan 2014-2023
The total tourism expenditure of travelers in Japan amounted to 28.1 trillion Japanese yen in 2023. This was an extraordinary increase compared to the previous year, setting a new record decade-high. While domestic travelers accounted for the majority of tourist spending in Japan, the expenditure of inbound visitors grew steadily in recent years, accounting for an increasingly larger share of the overall sum.
