People of African descent were the ethnic group with the furthest social distance to Russians as of December 2021, followed by Central Asia ethnicities. The highest social acceptance was recorded for Jews and Ukrainians.
Social distance of Russians to other ethnicities in 2021, by group
The source asked respondents how close they would be ready to see people from other ethnic groups. The closest distance meant that respondents would be ready to see them among their family members. The furthest distance was recorded when respondents would not let them into Russia.
The figures represent the average value of the distance. The higher the value is, the further the distance is, thus, the less 'desired' that group is.
Respondents were surveyed in 137 localities in 50 federal subjects of Russia.
