The U.S. formally collected and recycled more than four million metric tons of electronic waste in 2022, by far the highest figure worldwide. China followed, but by a large margin, with roughly two million metric tons collected. China is the largest producer of e-waste worldwide, generating more than 12 million metric tons in 2022.
