Within the considered time period, an overall positive trend can be observed regarding the production value of figs in South Africa. In 2017/2018, the preliminary value of production of figs from South Africa amounted to 54.14 million South African rands (equivalent to around 3.1 million U.S. dollars). Despite an increasing trend, several declines were registered. Between 2005 and 2008, and from 2009 to 2012, the value dropped aggregately by 51.2 percent and 17 percent, respectively.
