The lockdown and strict measures imposed by the Government in March 2020 to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic forced many businesses to temporarily close their doors to avoid crowds. Weeks later, the promise to relax security measures gave businesses hope to reopen. However, a survey carried out by the consulting firm EY-Parthenon showed the distrust of Spaniards when it comes to going back to carrying out activities that before the pandemic were part of their normal life, such as going out to party or drinking. Some 36 percent of those surveyed declared that they had no intention of going out again until a vaccine against COVID-19 was found. Some 48 percent, however, said they want to do it in the medium term. The remaining 16 percent intended to return to the discos as soon as the lockdown ended.
