Singapore: weekly YoY growth in Airbnb bookings 2020

According to data from Airbtics, Singapore experienced negative growth in Airbnb bookings from the week of February 16 onwards. This coincided with the appearance of the first local clusters of Covid-19 in the country. Since then, bookings on Airbnb had experienced negative growth compared to the previous year, as the tourism industry was still reeling from the impact of global travel restrictions.

* YoY growth refers to share of bookings received in comparison to the same period last year. For example, YoY growth 100% means Airbnb received the same amount of bookings compared to last year. YoY growth of 150% in week 1 2020 means there were 50% more bookings than in week 1 2019.

Data is based on the review data scraped by Airbtics from Airbnb.com between September 7-22, 2020. Limitation: 80-95% of active listings.

"Active listing" here means a listing that has its first review before 2019 April and its last review after 2020 March, so that the booking difference between 2019 and 2020 can be compared in a more fair way.

The dates refers to the week ending (e.g. Jan 12, 2020 shows the YOY change in number of bookings between January 6-12, 2020).
