In 2017, approximately 26 percent of the population of Bangladesh used drinking water sources that exceeded recommended arsenic limits to meet their water needs. This toxic element has entered many groundwater sources across that country, exposing approximately 40 million people.
*Drinking water sources that exceeds the WHO standard for arsenic of 10 parts per
billion. In Bangladesh and Pakistan, the national standard for arsenic in drinking water is 50 parts per billion.
