In 2022, the employment in the agricultural sector as share of total employment in Ghana remained nearly unchanged at around 39.74 percent. Still, 2022 marked the second consecutive decline of the share.
Employment in agriculture is the share of individuals working in agriculture, hunting, forestry, and fishing in order to produce a good or service for profit or pay from the total employed. The source defined employment as persons of working age who were engaged in any activity to produce goods or provide services for pay or profit, whether at work during the reference period or not at work due to temporary absence from a job, or to working-time arrangement. It added that the agriculture sector consisted of activities in agriculture, hunting, forestry and fishing, in accordance with division 1 (ISIC 2) or categories A-B (ISIC 3) or category A (ISIC 4).
