According to a survey conducted in April 2020, around 40 percent of respondents in Japan had no problems with companies advertising on social networking services (SNS) during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, as long as those advertisements did not encourage activities that would lead to a further spread of the virus. An additional 33 percent were in favor of companies rapidly doing promotion activities not furthering the spread of the virus, partly considering them as a means to stimulate the economy.
