Most used food delivery apps in Taiwan 2023

According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in April 2023, around 80 percent of respondents from Taiwan stated that Food Panda was the food delivery app they used the most. Uber Eats was the second most prominent player in Taiwan's food delivery app market.

Foodpanda

Founded in Singapore in 2012, Foodpanda is currently one of the largest online food and grocery ordering and delivery platforms in Asia as well as several countries in Europe. In 2016, the company was sold to the German multinational delivery platform Delivery Hero and became its lead brand in Asia. Taiwanese consumers love Foodpanda for its easy payment system (payments can be made online by cards or in person by cash), frequent discounts, and a very large delivery range. As of the beginning of 2023, more than 80,000 businesses were affiliated with Foodpanda in Taiwan.

Uber Eats

While the ride-hailing services of Uber have never gained much support in Taiwan, Uber’s online food delivery platform Uber Eats, launched in 2014, is highly successful in the region. Used mostly by younger generation and predominantly male consumers, Uber Eats got accepted in Taiwan and developed exceptionally quickly since its entry in 2016, cooperating with approximately three thousand restaurants in the first year of operation.
A market survey by the company revealed that Taiwanese-style meals (especially chicken dishes) were the most popular delivery orders, followed by Japanese and Italian cuisine. Meanwhile, milk tea was the most favored beverage on the Uber Eats app.
