In 2023, the age group embarking on the most domestic same-day trips in Japan were people in their fifties with about 39.77 million trips. At approximately 10.04 million trips, senior citizens above the age of 80 were the demographic that travelled the least for only one day. That year, approximately 216.23 million domestic trips without an overnight stay were recorded in Japan.
