Led by its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) televisions, LG Electronics accounted for around 16.6 percent of the global television market in 2023. However, the global market share of LG Electronics' televisions has slightly decreased since the previous year.

LG Corporation shaping various industries

LG Group has established itself as one of the most successful family-run business conglomerates in South Korea. The revenue of LG Corporation shows signs of recovering to pre-COVID-19 pandemic levels in recent years. Leading LG Group subsidiaries include LG Electronics and LG Chem. In particular, LG Electronics continues to be a prominent force in various markets such as home appliances and consumer electronics.

South Korea’s television market

Most Korean households own televisions, with the ownership rate of televisions surveyed to be over 99 percent. According to the same nationwide survey, televisions made by LG were the second-most popular brand among Korean households. South Korea's broadcasting infrastructure is well-developed, providing a wide range of channels and services. South Korean dramas, also known as K-dramas, were one of the key elements contributing to the global rise in popularity of Korean culture, thus positively influencing the exposure of the domestic television industry to the global market as part of the "Korean wave".
