Share of domestic and international tourism revenue in European destinations 2020
In 2020, due to the level of uncertainty related to the coronavirus pandemic, many tourists preferred to travel in their own country rather than traveling abroad. The Statista study on Luxury travel and tourism in Europe amid the pandemic shows that 90 percent of the total revenues in Germany was estimated to come from domestic tourists in 2020. In that year, Germany was expected to record the highest total internal tourism revenue among trending European luxury travel destinations.
