In 2022, the highest number of people who acquired a Swedish citizenship formerly held the Syrian citizenship. Syrians made up the largest of the foreign-born groups in Sweden in 2022. People from Eritrea ranked second in the number of citizenships acquired in Sweden in 2022, followed by Somali.
