Whereas nearly 45,000 permits were granted in 2018, 25,000 were granted in 2023. In 2023, around 23,000 of the residence permits granted on the grounds of family reunification in Sweden came under the category other grounds. Meanwhile, 2,100 were granted on refugee or asylum grounds. The most common ground for receiving a residence permit in Sweden in 2023 was work-related permits.
