Emigration from Sweden 2013-2023, by citizenship

From 2014 to 2020, there were more people with a foreign citizenship than people with a Swedish citizenship emigrating from Sweden. However, since 2021, there have been more Swedish citizens emigrating. Moreover, the number of emigrants reached a new record in 2023 as the Swedish Tax Agency had a major clean-up of their registers to avoid welfare fraud. A total of over 70,000 people were registered as emigrated from Sweden in 2023.
