Between 2007 and 2017, the number of annual trips made by train and metro in Paris and Île-de-France progressively increased. In 2017, nearly three billion trips were made by railway in Paris and in Île-de-France, compared with approximatively 2.6 billions ten years before. However, there was a slight decrease in 2018 and 2019.

- From 2015, change of calculation method for calculating SNCF Train Traffic: Results from the CAB Trend method (source: SNCF);
- A journey by SNCF train corresponds to a journey made by a passenger in a single vehicle. If, for his trip, the traveler makes a connection, there are two trips."
