This was the sharpest decline in hotel bookings since the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in early 2020. As of October 2023, the number of hotel bookings in the country had not yet consistently returned to pre-pandemic levels, with the number of bookings that month standing at 18 percent lower than the 2019 figure.
