Over 70 percent of women of Roma ethnicity agreed that having a job was the best way for a woman to be an independent person. However, nearly four out of ten men of Roma ethnicity disagreed that a woman would need a job in order for her to feel as an independent person.

In total 7,947 interviews with Roma respondents were carried out across the nine EU Member States, ranging from 508 interviews in Greece to 1,408 in Romania,
