Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas that has been cooled down to a liquid form so that it can be transported overseas by ship and then regasified. While imports of liquefied natural gas to Europe increased by over 75 percent between 2018 and 2019, French leading banks also kept financing companies that are involved in exportation and importation of liquefied natural gas. It appears that, in 2019, the value of the funding granted to this type of company by the BPCE/Natixis group was 58 times higher than in the previous year.
