As of 2018/19, the gross value of dry beans produced in South Africa was at 842.6 million South African Rands (approximately 51.7 million U.S. dollars). In the period before, the value was measured at roughly one billion Rands (roughly 61.5 million U.S. dollars). The production value reached its highest in 2013/14, at 1.1 billion Rands (around 68 million U.S. dollars). However, right after the peak, the value dropped, what may be linked to a drought in 2015.
