Amount of funding granted by French banks to coal developers since COP21 in 2018

While the number of investments in responsible investment funds has increased in Europe, this statistic reveals that French banks are supporting the construction of new coal-fired power plants by financing the companies that carry out these projects. It shows that, between January 2016 and September 2018, the four leading French banks, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole, Société Générale and BPCE, granted more than 10 billion euros in funding to coal developers, with BNP Paribas ranking first with funding amounting to 3.998 million euros.
