In 2018, roughly 30 percent of the Belgian population suffered from a chronic illness. From a regional perspective, the prevalence of chronic afflictions was the highest in Wallonia and the lowest in Flanders. In 2018, it was estimated that one out of three Belgians living in Wallonia suffered from a chronic condition.
