The global investment on environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) has increased considerably in the last years, from around 11.35 trillion U.S. dollars in 2012 to approximately 30.7 trillion U.S. dollars in 2018.
Environmental, social, and corporate governance refers to a set of standards for a company's operations that investors use to determine if a particular company operates in ways that encompass environmental stewardship, socially just operations with employees, suppliers, customers, and its communities. Corporate governance refers to how a company handles its leadership, executive pay, audits, shareholder rights, and internal controls.
