Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak in Mexico, the Consumer confidence index Survey in Mexico, known as 'Indicador de confianza del consumidor', had to be cancelled until further notice. As a result, the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, known as 'Instituto nacional de geografÃa y estadÃstica (INEGI)', carried out a Telephone-based consumer confidence survey- 'Encuesta Telefónica sobre Confianza del Consumidor (ETCO)'. The survey is meant to monitor consumer confidence in the country during the lockdown period.
Due to a difference in methodology non-phone-based data should only serve as a reference in comparison to ETCO data. ETCO should not be considered a continuation of the non-phone based survey.
